Mastro's Steakhouse Beverly Hills, California

Visit Date September 2017

Average star rating: 4*

Full summary:

I got a text from my friend inviting my husband and I out for dinner, and I accepted. Then I realise we were going to Mastro's, I'm thrilled, of course. Why wouldn't I be, you all know I like the finer things in life. And so what if we need to remortgage for a meal out.

So the night was a hit! We sat on the piano floor, which I loved because its old school posh. Our server was ultra polite, funny, super professional and helpful.

The food was good. I had scallops to start and they were to die for. Yum yum. My main, I had a fillet steak and my husband had a Porter House. Both steaks cooked just how we requested. The restaurants signature dishes, Lobster Mash was also delicious.

So why only 4* and not 5*? Although the food was good, I felt the steak did not blow me away. And seeing as it is a steak house, and I love a steak, I felt the need to drop a star. However, I will go back again. Maybe I'll try the House Floor!

Trace by Adelaide Thorne

Read September 2017

Firstly, this book was given to me by the author. So thank you Adelaide Thorne. This is my first YA (Young Adult) book review and I really enjoyed it. I liked being transported back to my youth and getting to know the start of the book Kepler, and her best friend. And Ella Kepler is a good friend to have when things don't go to plan. The story is abut a normal girl living her life just like the rest of us, when one day that all changes. Kepler is thrust into a new life of covert organization and Grifter creatures. As with all good stories and films, there is a love interest, which I assume will blossom over into book two.

Little Gray Dress by Aimee Brown

Read June 2017

Cute story about Emi trying, but failing emotionally to move on after her break up with Jake. He has left a scar on her heart, and the last thing she needs is to be bumping into him, queue Jack! So with heartache in hand Emi needs to suck it up and be a happy bridesmaid. Easy! or not so easy, not when there is a mean girl in the story. Queue, mishaps. But all is not lost when hunky Liam comes on the scene, yay! or not? Queue the dilemma, Liam or Jack?

The book also takes you back in time so that you can see Emi's life when she was happy with Jack through to the break up. This is done with alternating chapters. And while the fast past drama is in the present day story line, the past story line is needed so that you can see how Emi and Jack ended up in the situation they did.

Literally by Lucy Keating

Read June 2017

I would like to start my review by saying that this book is written for YA and teens, neither of which I still am lol. As an author myself I know the time and dedication it takes to write a novella- so well done Lucy keating. I was shelf-surfing in Barnes and Noble for a chick-lit book when found, Literally. I was super excited about the concept and thought it would make a great vacation read. Lucy did a good job of showing a young American girl at school and her lingo. The book is about a girl who realises she is just a character in a book and her life is all written for her. It is easy to read and Annabelle is a likable character. I did unfortunately start to skim read through as I found it a bit slow, but this maybe because it's not my normal genre. I liked the inclusion of author Lucy Keating herself into the story, thought she did paint herself as a bit mean- I'm sure that's not the case in real life. It is also set in the town I live Venice and‍ Santa Monica. All in all, it's a cute easy read & a nice looking book for my bookshelf.
